At least 5 other passersby were also killed and 20 injured in the incident. Gen Baig was the highest-ranking officer to be killed in Pakistan since the 9/11 attacks. The police DSP was killed along with three other policemen when their vehicle was hit in a roadside bomb earlier in the day.
